Working Through the Fear

When I was younger I set big goals for myself.  Now as I look forward I see that I don't have time to keep waiting to reach these big goals.  Change won't happen until I change.  I have to make the little daily changes and the bigger jumps to reach my big goals.

I always wanted to teach.  I love learning and I want to share that love of learning with my students.  When I was in high school I thought I wanted to teach business in high school.  After taking a break from college  to get married, have children, etc., I went back to my original goal of completing my education.  I still had a dream of teaching, but I wanted to work with little people who were excited to learn and come to school each day.  I've dipped my toe into teaching older classes.  I taught middle school math for 4 years and loved making math accessible and fun for those hormonal teenagers.  I substitute taught in high school during my track breaks while my own children were in high school so that I could see them in their "natural environment."

I'm truly living my dream teaching elementary school.  There are days and weeks where it can be more of a nightmare than a dream, but I truly love what I do.

Now it is time to tackle my other big goals.  I'll keep you up to date as I pursue these next personal and professional goals.

I love learning!  The best way I found to fulfill that love of learning is to teach.  I learn each day from my students and I am constantly striving to improve my practices as a teacher.  I love what I do and love interacting with students each day.
